Accra, Ghana - 2 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed Alexander Afenyo-Markin as its Minority Leader in Parliament, tasking him with leading the party's legislative agenda.
Afenyo-Markin, who represents the Effutu constituency, vowed to work tirelessly on behalf of the NPP. He also expressed gratitude to the party's National Council for their trust in him during a press briefing.
“What I can say is that I thank the National Council for the trust reposed in me, and the decision to confirm me to lead my side in Parliament. I can promise them one thing: hard work, hard work, hard work. May God be my guide,” he stated.
As part of the NPP's strategic realignment, several key figures have been appointed to leadership roles. New Leadership Appointments:
- Deputy Minority Leader: Patricia Apiagyei
- Chief Whip: Frank Annoh-Dompreh
- First Deputy Minority Whip: Habib Iddrisu
- Second Deputy Minority Whip: Davies Opoku
These appointments signal the NPP's intent to assert its influence in the 9th Parliament, which convenes on January 7, 2025.
