Talensi NDC Office Torched Over Controversial DCE Nomination

Talensi, Upper East Region - 06 April, 2025 - Arsonists set fire to the National Democratic Congress constituency office in Talensi, Upper East Region, Ghana, around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, in an attack linked to controversy surrounding John Millim Naabwomya's nomination as District Chief Executive candidate.
The attack on the NDC constituency office in Talensi is believed to have been triggered by John Millim Naabwomya's nomination as District Chief Executive candidate. His selection has sparked controversy among party members and supporters, who claim he's unpopular and was chosen for his alleged loyalty to the Paramount Chief rather than through grassroots support.
Concerns have also been raised about Naabwomya's alleged ties to Chinese mining companies, with fears that he may prioritize their interests over community welfare.
Meanwhile, a petition was submitted in January 2025 calling for the party to reject his nomination.
The arsonists remain unidentified.
