E-Levy Charges to be Refunded by April 7 – EMI Chamber of Ghana

Accra, Ghana - 06 April, 2025 -  Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) Chamber of Ghana is refunding customers who were charged the electronic levy after its recent repeal.

The process is expected to be completed by April 7, 2025.

This decision comes after President John Dramani Mahama assented to the repeal and the Ghana Revenue Authority directed all charging entities to cease applying the levy.

The chamber, representing major electronic money issuers like AT Money and G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Telecel Cash, and Zeepay has reassured the public in a statement that its members are adhering to the directive and processing refunds for any charges applied after the levy's removal.

According to the statement, measures are in place to prevent further charges, and mistaken charges will be promptly refunded.

“We remain steadfast in upholding customer rights and ensuring a fair financial environment for all. We are optimistic about the future of digital finance in Ghana,” portions of the statement read.
