Forestry Commission office in Achimota ransacked, several items stolen
Some individuals have reportedly broken into the Forestry Commission depot at Achimota in Accra, making off with several valuable items.
According to sources who wished to remain anonymous, the intruders were seen wearing branded shirts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and chanting, “Our government is now in power,” as they stormed the facility early this morning.
The stolen items include 24 air conditioners, laptops, and other essential equipment belonging to the Commission. In addition to this, the intruders attempted to seize the keys to newly acquired vehicles but were unsuccessful in doing so.
The break-in has raised concerns over security at state-owned properties, particularly following the political transitions after the 2024 elections. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incident is directly related to the current political climate.
The police were quickly alerted and arrived at the scene to restore order. They have since secured the area and launched an investigation into the theft.
Investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are working to track down those responsible for the break-in.
The Forestry Commission has not yet commented publicly on the incident, but further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
