State Vehicles Must Be Returned by Jan 3, 2025 - Presidency Directs Appointees
Ghana's President's office has issued a reminder to outgoing government officials to return all state vehicles by January 3, 2025.
This directive, first introduced in 2020 by the Nana Akufo-Addo government, aims to promote accountability and responsible management of state resources.
The order applies to all ministers, deputy ministers, regional ministers, and special assistants, among others. They are required to return the vehicles to the Chief Director of their respective ministries by the specified deadline.
In a statement issued on December 11, the President's office emphasized that no official vehicle shall be acquired by any appointee of the current administration. This move is seen as a departure from previous practices, where outgoing officials were allowed to acquire state vehicles.
