Speaker Bagbin Gives NIB Permission to Probe A Plus, Mustapha Yussif

Accra, Ghana - 03 April, 2025 - The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has agreed to release Mustapha Yussif, MP for Yagaba Kubori, and Kwame Asare Obeng, MP for Gomoa Central, for a meeting with security officials on Monday, April 7, 2025.
This decision was made after careful consideration of parliamentary privileges and protocols between Parliament and the security services.
The Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, stressed the importance of upholding Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution, which protect parliamentary privileges related to the arrest or questioning of MPs, while acting on behalf of the Speaker.
In a move to ensure transparency and protect the MPs' rights, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has instructed them to attend the meeting with their legal representatives.
The also instructed that the two MPs make themselves available for an initial meeting with security officials on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, located in the Office of the Speaker.
Furthermore, security personnel have been advised to coordinate with Parliament's Legal Services Office to facilitate the process.
While details about the issues surrounding the MPs remain unclear, this development underscores Parliament's commitment to upholding the law while safeguarding the rights and privileges of its members.
