Mahama Removes Charles Kraikue as GCAA Director-General, Appoints Wilfred Arthur as New Acting Head

Accra, Ghana - 03 April, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has terminated the appointment of Charles Kraikue as Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), effective immediately.
Kraikue has been directed to hand over his duties to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who will serve as Acting Director-General.
The decision, announced in an official statement on April 2, 2025, did not provide reasons for Kraikue's dismissal. However, it comes amid ongoing restructuring efforts within key government institutions.
Kraikue's tenure as Director-General began with a ceremonial handover from his predecessor, Ing. Simon Allotey.
During his time in office, Kraikue oversaw various initiatives, including a Joint Safety and Environment Week Celebration with the Ghana Airports Company Limited.
Arthur, the newly appointed Acting Director-General, is expected to ensure a seamless transition and oversee operations at the GCAA.
