Sam George Denies Receiving Luxury Vehicle as Gift, Demands Retraction from NPP Activist

Accra, Ghana - 21 May, 2025 - Ghana's Minister of Communication, Samuel Nartey George, has denied allegations that he received a luxury Lexus vehicle as a gift, contrary to a code of conduct introduced by President John Mahama.
The code prohibits government appointees from accepting gifts worth more than GH₵20,000 without declaring them.
The allegations were made by P.K. Sarpong, a social media user and NPP activist, on Facebook. Sarpong claimed that George was using an unregistered Lexus vehicle, which he alleged was a gift from an unnamed individual.
However, George's lawyers have described the allegations as "categorically false" and have demanded that Sarpong retract the statement, apologize, and remove the post within seven days.
Failure to comply may result in legal action, including a defamation suit.
George's denial comes after President Mahama emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability among government appointees, warning that accepting gifts could compromise their integrity.
