Raid on BoG Governor's Home was in Accordance with the Law - Srem sai
Justice Srem-Sai is the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice

Accra, Ghana - 20 March, 2025 - Ghana's Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, has justified the recent raid on Dr. Ernest Addison's home, asserting that it was carried out within the bounds of the law.

The raid, which occurred on March 19, 2025, has sparked intense backlash from the Minority, who vehemently argue that it was driven by political motivations.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, National Security operatives stormed Dr. Addison's home in Accra, disabling the CCTV system and demanding that he reveal the location of alleged vaults containing cash.

However, Dr. Addison insisted that he had no vaults or hidden funds.

The operatives allegedly ransacked the house, seizing the CCTV monitor and control unit. This incident has raised concerns about the conduct of security operations targeting former government officials. In a similar incident on February 11, 2025, security personnel searched the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has since filed a lawsuit accusing National Security operatives of trespassing and violating his privacy.

The Minority has strongly condemned these incidents, claiming they are politically motivated.

However, Justice Srem-Sai has defended the raid, stating that it was carried out with proper legal authorization and warrants.

“We take responsibility for the search that happened. We want to make it clear that those searches and the mode in which they were done were in accordance with the law. Warrants were procured and used,” he told journalists on Thursday March 20, 2025.
