President Mahama Nominates Dr Baidoo as new KATH CEO

Accra, Ghana - 05 May, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo to succeed Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah as Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

According to an official statement dated April 30, 2025, and signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, the nomination of Dr. Baidoo is to be regularized in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.

The appointment of Dr. Baidoo as the new CEO of KATH has sparked mixed reactions, particularly from the Asante youth. Some have expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, urging President Mahama to reinstate Prof. Addai-Mensah. The controversy surrounding the dismissal of Prof. Addai-Mensah and the nomination of Dr. Baidoo has generated significant interest in the healthcare sector.

As the new CEO, Dr. Baidoo is expected to provide leadership and direction to the hospital, which is one of the largest and most prestigious healthcare institutions in Ghana. His appointment will likely have implications for the hospital's operations and the delivery of healthcare services in the Ashanti Region.
