Declare Assets by May 7 or Face Dismissal - President Mahama Warns Appointees

Accra, Ghana - 05 May, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has given government appointees a final May 7 deadline to declare their assets, warning that failure to comply will lead to automatic dismissal.

Speaking at the launch of the Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on May 5, Mahama emphasized the gravity of the issue, stating that no one would be exempt from the consequences of non-compliance.

He reiterated the importance of protecting the integrity of his government, asserting that he would not compromise on this matter.

According to him, appointees who missed the initial deadline of March 31 will face financial sanctions, including the forfeiture of three months' salary and a mandatory donation of one month's salary to the MahamaCares Fund.

“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” he said.

The President's directive aims to ensure that all government officials adhere to the asset declaration laws, promoting a culture of transparency and accountability within the administration.

The move demonstrates President Mahama's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and probity in governance. As the deadline approaches, it remains to be seen how many appointees will comply with the directive and how the President will enforce the sanctions against those who fail to do so.
