GNFS and YEA Partner to Recruit 5,000 Fire Assistants

Accra, Ghana - 05 May, 2025 - The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have launched a partnership to recruit 5,000 young people as Fire Assistants, aiming to enhance fire safety and provide employment opportunities nationwide.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on May 3, 2025, by YEA CEO Malik Basintale. Under the agreement, the GNFS will handle the training and supervision of the recruits, who will be deployed to various regions upon completion of their training.
The initiative supports job creation and public safety, aligning with the YEA's mandate to connect unemployed youth with temporary jobs and skill-building opportunities. The partnership has received government backing, with the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment in attendance at the signing ceremony.
While the recruitment process details, including eligibility requirements and timelines, are yet to be announced, the partnership is expected to boost fire safety and provide employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
