Political Parties ink peace pact ahead of December polls
Ghana's 2024 elections are just around the corner, and in a bid to ensure a peaceful and stable environment, political parties and their presidential candidates have come together to sign a peace pact. This historic agreement commits all parties to maintaining peace before, during, and after the December 7 polls.
Key dignitaries, including Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensa, attended the ceremony, lending their support to the initiative.
At the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact, EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa emphasized the importance of confidence in the electoral process. She encouraged all stakeholders to work together to promote peace and stability during the elections.
She also reassured the public that robust measures are in place to ensure the elections are free, fair, and transparent.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made a passionate appeal for peace, urging all actors to ensure that peace prevails during and after the elections
