Police Officers Withdraw Court Case Over Transfer Orders
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is Ghana's Inspector General of Police

Accra, Ghana - December 31, 2024 - A group of 10 Ghanaian police officers has unexpectedly abandoned their legal challenge against transfer orders issued by the country's police chief, Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. The officers had initiated a court case, alleging that the transfer orders were unjust and lacked transparency.

The police officers argued that the transfer decision jeopardized their career stability and didn't follow the police service's standard procedures. They claimed the process lacked transparency and fairness, and demanded answers from the Police Administration.

The group of officers, including Sergeant Prince Owusu Fayosey, Sergeant Seidu Essilfie, Sergeant Alex Abah, Corporal John Yao Adzimagbor, Corporal Michael Kwasi Avuyi, Corporal Huudu Muhammed Wumbe, Corporal Kabiru Mohammed, Corporal Hannah Antwi-Boasiako, IC/Inspector Alexander Odoi and led by Sergeant David Ojeyim, among others, felt that the transfer process was arbitrary and undermined their professional rights.
