Police investigate stone-throwing incident involving Asantehene's convoy in Techiman
An investigation is underway in Ghana after the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was allegedly attacked in Techiman, Bono East Region. The incident occurred as the Asantehene returned from a funeral in Nkoranza.
According to preliminary reports, local youth from Techiman threw stones at buses in the convoy. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of their commitment to uncovering the facts of the case.
In a statement released on Dec 3, The police are working closely with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other key stakeholders in Techiman to aid the investigation. The incident has sparked concerns due to the Asantehene's revered status and the historical significance of peaceful coexistence between communities.
The police have urged calm as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
