NDC to protest voter register irregularities nationwide

Accra, Ghana - September 9, 2024 - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a nationwide protest on September 17, 2024, to express outrage over the Electoral Commission's handling of discrepancies in the voter register.

The party claims to have identified significant discrepancies during the recent voter exhibition exercise, which the EC has failed to address.

NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah revealed that protesters will converge on regional EC offices in all 16 regional capitals, while national executives will submit a formal petition at the EC's headquarters in Accra.

The party demands a forensic audit of the register and swift action to rectify the discrepancies.

“On the 17th of this month [September], the NDC is embarking on a massive nationwide demonstration in all 16 regional capitals, descend on the electoral commission officers and we in Accra will descend to the headquarters and present further petitions as to why we think that they should conduct themselves in a manner that will guarantee peaceful, free and fair election,'' Asiedu Nketiah stated.

This move comes on the heels of the party's presidential nomination forms submission for John Mahama.
