Otto Addo Unveils 23-man Squad as Partey Makes Comeback for World Cup Qualifiers

Accra, Ghana - 14 March, 2025 - As Ghana sets its sights on securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, coach Otto Addo has assembled a formidable 23-man squad, blending experience and youth, to tackle the upcoming qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

After a lengthy injury layoff that forced him to miss four Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in 2024, Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has made a timely return to the Black Stars fold, resuming his deputy captain role.

Partey, with over 50 caps since his debut in June 2016, brings a wealth of experience to the squad.

Captain Jordan Ayew will lead the charge, supported by deputy captain Thomas Partey. The squad also features three home-based players: Benjamin Asare, goalkeeper for Accra Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC's Kamaradini Mamudu, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC.

Other notable players include Southampton FC's Kamal Deen Sulemana, who has overcome a prolonged injury, and CD Lugo's Jerry Afriyie, who impressed against Niger in November 2024. Christopher Bonsu Baah, a versatile player from KRC Genk, is another exciting addition to the squad.

Ghana, currently second in Group I with nine points from four matches, is level with leaders Comoros. With two crucial matches looming, the Black Stars will convene on March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp before facing Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21, 2025, and Madagascar at the Grand Stade d'Al Hoceima on March 24, 2025.
