OSP Releases Wanted Poster for Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta

Accra, Ghana - 17 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been declared a fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which has released a wanted poster seeking his arrest.

The OSP accuses Mr. Ofori-Atta of repeatedly refusing to honour invitations for questioning regarding ongoing investigations into multiple corruption-related cases.

The wanted poster, issued on February 17, 2025, lists Mr. Ofori-Atta's name, photograph, and personal details, stating that he is wanted in connection with investigations into the Strategic Mobilisation-GRA contract, the termination of the ECG-BXC contract, payments related to the National Cathedral, and the Ambulance Procurement contract.

The OSP has urged anyone with information on Mr. Ofori-Atta's whereabouts to come forward, with possible locations listed as the United States and the United Kingdom. The move has sparked criticism, with some arguing that the Special Prosecutor acted hastily in declaring Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive without exhausting legal procedures.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) remains defiant in the face of criticism, arguing that its pursuit of Ken Ofori-Atta is grounded in law. OSP spokesperson Sammy Darko emphasized that the former minister's refusal to cooperate with investigators has left them no choice but to explore every legal option to hold him accountable.

"We are pursuing all available legal avenues to bring him to justice, the public is encouraged to provide any relevant information on his whereabouts,'' he stated.
