OSP Arrests 3 Former GRA Officials Over SML Contracts
Accra, Ghana - 25 June, 2025 - The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken decisive action against three former officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in connection with ongoing investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.
Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Commissioner-General of the GRA; Isaac Crentsil, ex-Commissioner of Customs and current General Manager at Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML); and Christian Tetteh Sottie, former Technical Advisor and current MD/CEO of SML, were arrested last night.
The arrests are linked to contracts between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services, which the OSP is investigating for potential corruption and corruption-related offences. The probe also aims to verify SML's claims that its services have been saving the nation significant revenues.
According to the OSP, Owusu-Amoah, Crentsil, and Sottie were detained after failing to meet bail conditions. The investigation is ongoing, and the OSP is working to determine the extent of any wrongdoing.
The arrests demonstrate the OSP's commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring accountability in public office. The investigation will likely shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the contracts and the actions of the individuals involved.
The three former GRA officials are currently in custody, and further developments are expected as the investigation unfolds.
