Omanjor Homowo Killings: Police Nabs Key Suspect, Recover Spent Cartridges

Accra,Ghana,September 1,2025 - In a significant breakthrough, the Ghana Police Service's Special Support Unit has arrested Newton Allotey, a suspect linked to the violent clashes at the Palace of the Chief of Omanjor. The clashes resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left 49 others injured.

The arrest was made possible through diligent intelligence gathering, which indicated that Allotey was hiding in Dansoman. On September 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 am, four teams from the Special Support Unit converged on Dansoman's last stop and apprehended Allotey at his hideout. During a search of his person, 18 spent BB cartridges were recovered.

Allotey is currently in custody, cooperating with investigators to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the Omanjor violence. The police have confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects identified in connection with the incident.

With Allotey's arrest, the police are optimistic that they will uncover more details about the incident and bring all perpetrators to account.
