Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sounds Alarm on Potential Scams

Accra ,August 19 ,2025 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is alerting the public to potential scams and warning against using unauthorized agents or submitting fake documents for its services.

In a statement released on Monday, August 18, the Ministry cautioned that submitting forged or fraudulent documents constitutes a criminal offence and will be reported to law enforcement authorities for action.

It further advised that all official information and service updates are available only on its official website, accredited print and electronic media, and verified social media platforms aim at ensuring that the public has access to accurate and reliable information, and to prevent the spread of misinformation.

The statement also emphasized the importance of dealing directly with designated officers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or accredited Ghana Missions abroad adding that payments should only be made to authorized officials, and citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or demands for extra payment.

This is to prevent individuals from falling prey to unauthorized agents who may be seeking to exploit them and protecting citizens from falling victim to scams and fraudulent activities.
