Ofori-Atta Has Undergone Sucessful Prostate Cancer Surgery - Wife Reveals
Accra, Ghana - 16 June, 2025 - Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana's former Finance Minister, has undergone a prostate cancer operation at a US hospital according to his wife, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta.
The former minister's family confirmed in a statement on monday June 16, that the surgery took place at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and was performed to treat the cancer.
According to his wife who signed the statement, the procedure was successful, and he is now receiving postoperative care.
“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” portions of the statement read.
They thanked supporters for their messages of goodwill and prayers.
However, Ofori-Atta's health update comes as he faces a separate challenge. Ghana's Office of the Special Prosecutor has declared him a fugitive due to his failure to appear for questioning in an ongoing investigation.
The OSP has stated that it requires certified medical documentation to justify his absence.
Ofori-Atta's family has taken steps to contest the Red Notice issued against him, arguing that it was issued without proper consideration of his health and legal circumstances.
Despite his current health challenges, the family has emphasized Ofori-Atta's commitment to cooperating with the investigation upon his recovery.
