President Mahama will resolve Tamale water crisis soon - Northern Regional Minister-Designate

Accra, Ghana - 23 Jan, 2025 - Ali Adolf G. John, the Minister-Designate for Ghana's Northern Region, has vowed to vigorously lobby for a solution to the longstanding Tamale water crisis.

During his vetting on Thursday, Mr. Adolf expressed confidence that President John Dramani Mahama would fulfill his campaign promise to resolve the issue.

President Mahama had publicly committed to addressing the water crisis if elected, and Mr. Adolf believes that the president's track record of keeping promises would ensure the problem's resolution.

“President John Dramani Mahama made it very public that he will resolve the Tamale water problem and this is somebody who does things that he says,'' he stated.

“And so I am of the firm believe that once he has won, the Tamale water problem will be solved and once it is solved, it will be extended to other districts,'' he added.

The Tamale water crisis has worsened in recent times, forcing residents to rely on expensive sachet water for cooking and bathing, exacerbating their financial struggles. Efforts to address the issue are underway, including a $223 million Tamale water supply facility funded by the UK Export Finance and Deutsche Bank AG.
