Ntim Fordjour's Residence Under Siege as NIB Tries to Arrest Him

Accra, Ghana - 09 April, 2025 - Tensions are running high in Ghana's political landscape after the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to arrest Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, a lawmaker from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Background
Fordjour's troubles began after he alleged that two suspicious flights landed at the Kotoka International Airport, sparking concerns about possible drug trafficking and money laundering. The claims have been dismissed by government officials as baseless, but the opposition insists that the issue warrants further investigation.

The Attempted Arrest
According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, NPP's General Secretary, NIB officials besieged Fordjour's residence in a bid to arrest him. #SayNoToStateIntimidation, Frimpong wrote on social media. The move was swiftly condemned by the Minority in Parliament, who expressed their unwavering support for Fordjour and accused the government of attempting to silence dissenting voices.

Reaction from the Minority
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin was scathing in his criticism, describing the NIB's actions as "politically motivated" and a "misuse of state power." He emphasized that the Minority will not be intimidated and will continue to push for transparency and accountability in the investigation into Fordjour's allegations.
