NPP Suspends 184 Members in Yendi for Breaching Party Constitution

Yendi, Ghana - December 27, 2024 - Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken drastic measures against 184 of its members in the Yendi constituency, suspending them for breaching the party's constitution..

In a statement issued on Dec 26 and signed by Alhaji Baba Gazali, the Party's Chairman in the Yendi Constituency, the decision, made unanimously by the Constituency Executive Committee, takes effect from December 26, 2024.

According to Gazali, the suspensions follow a thorough investigation into complaints lodged by party members against the affected individuals. The allegations include standing as independent candidates against the NPP's officially elected parliamentary candidate, supporting rival parties, and refusing to work for the party during the recent elections.

According to the party's constitution, members who engage in such behavior automatically forfeit their membership. He emphasized the importance of adhering to its constitution and maintaining unity within the party, particularly in the aftermath of the recent elections.

The suspensions are seen as a move to enforce discipline and accountability within the party. The affected members will no longer enjoy party privileges unless their status is reviewed and reversed by the appropriate party structures.
