NPP Presidential Primaries Heat Up as Kennedy Agyapong Declares Candidacy

Accra, Ghana – 30 July, 2025 – Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central, has thrown his hat into the ring for the New Patriotic Party's presidential primaries, aiming to lead the party into the 2028 general election. In a statement released on July 29, 2025, Agyapong expressed his determination to contest, citing widespread support from Ghanaians across various sectors.

Agyapong thanked supporters nationwide, including party loyalists, professionals, youth, and MPs, some of whom have pledged financial backing for his nomination.

He framed his candidacy as a collective effort to unite the nation and rise above partisan divisions and vowed to listen to Ghanaians and lead with integrity and purpose, aiming to create opportunities for all citizens.

The former MP's decision marks his second attempt at the NPP presidential primaries, following his previous bid in 2023. The party's primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026, with several aspirants already vying for the position.
