Parliament Greenlights Four Deputy Ministers
Accra, Ghana – 30 July, 2025 – Parliament has given the nod to four Deputy Minister nominees selected by President John Dramani Mahama, following a unanimous endorsement by the Appointments Committee.
The newly approved Deputy Ministers are Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Essikado-Ketan MP, tapped to oversee health matters ,Dorcas Affo-Toffey ,Jomoro MP, set to drive transport initiatives ,James Gyakye Quayson ,Assin North MP, poised to support foreign affairs and Mohammed Adams Sukparu ,Sissala West MP, tasked with communication and digital innovation.
The Appointments Committee, chaired by Bernard Ahiafor, conducted a rigorous evaluation, including a public hearing and thorough review of the nominees' credentials.
“Following thorough scrutiny, the Committee found all nominees competent and suitable. It therefore recommends by consensus that the House approves the nomination of all four individuals for appointment as Deputy Ministers,” Ahiafor stated.
The Committee's scrutiny confirmed that all four nominees possess the necessary expertise and vision for their designated roles.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, had referred the nominations to the Appointments Committee on July 17, 2025, following President Mahama's submission in line with constitutional requirements.
