NIA Workers Suspend Strike, Services Resume June 30
Accra, Ghana - 30 June, 2025 - The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the suspension of a strike action that had disrupted national ID registration services across Ghana.
In a public notice issued on Sunday, June 29, NIA noted that following extensive stakeholder engagements, they have agreed to address the concerns of its staff, who are members of the Public Services Workers' Union (PSWU).
The decision brings to an end days of service disruptions that had affected access to national ID registration services.
The NIA has expressed regret over any inconvenience caused during the period of industrial action and thanked the public for their patience and understanding.
“Management acknowledges and appreciates the good faith demonstrated by the Union and wishes to assure all staff that their legitimate concerns remain a priority and will continue to receive the urgent attention they deserve,” the statement read.
According to the NIA, all offices and registration centers across the country will resume full operations on Monday, June 30, 2025. The authority has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality, efficient, and reliable identification services to Ghanaians.
The development is expected to ease the process of acquiring national identification cards, which are essential for various transactions and services in Ghana.
The public is encouraged to take advantage of the resumption of services to access ID registration and other related services.
