NIA Gets New Leadership as Yahyra Koku Assumes Acting CEO Role

Accra, Ghana - 18 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's National Identification Authority (NIA) has a new Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku.

Deku's appointment marks a significant milestone in his career journey with the NIA, which began in 2008 as a temporary Technical Officer.

Deku takes the reins from Prof. Kenneth Attafuah, who retired as NIA Executive Secretary in 2024.

In a scial media post, Deku expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with the leadership role, attributing his appointment to "divine providence".

Deku is eager to make a significant impact, stating that "the journey ahead is exciting" and promising to make his colleagues, friends, and well-wishers proud.

“This can only be God. Thank you, President John Dramani Mahama, for recognizing my potential and giving me the opportunity to serve.

“The journey ahead is exciting, and I can’t wait to dive in and make a difference. A significant difference.”

He also thanked colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming support, pledging to make them proud in his new role.

“The job has just started. I will make you all proud with God on our side,'' he posted on his X account (formerly Twitter).
