My heart leans towards NDC - A-Plus
Accra, Ghana - January 6, 2025 - Newly elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus says he is considering offers from both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to join their respective parliamentary caucuses but his heart is leaning towards the NDC.
According to a Facebook post by A-Plus, Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP's MP for Assin Central, has extended an invitation for him to join the NPP's ranks in Parliament. However, A-Plus has revealed that his heart leans towards the NDC, although he remains open to negotiations with both parties.
The NPP's proposal includes a commitment to not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election, a move seen as a strategic attempt to secure A-Plus's support.
Meanwhile, the NDC has also invited A-Plus for a meeting, scheduled for January 7, 2025, as they seek to win him over to their side.
“Their proposal includes several intriguing agreements, such as a commitment that they will not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election.''
“Let me make this simple and clear: deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central,” he revealed on social media.
A-Plus's decision is expected to have significant implications for Ghana's political landscape, with the NDC currently holding a nearly two-thirds majority in Parliament.
