Mahama to Unveil Final Ministerial Nominees Jan 20
Accra, Ghana - 17 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama is set to submit his final list of ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament on Monday, January 20, 2025, fulfilling his pledge to name his complete cabinet within two weeks of taking office.
The President has reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a lean government, with no more than 60 ministers. The final batch of nominees is expected to include key figures such as the Ministers of Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour, as well as three Regional Ministers.
However, the Presidency has dismissed reports claiming the release of a third batch of ministerial nominees, describing them as "false and misleading." The reports had listed prominent members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Rashid Pelpuo, Muntaka Mubarak, and Sam George, as alleged nominees for various ministerial positions.
The Office of the President has urged the public to disregard the misinformation, emphasizing that official announcements will be made exclusively through authorized channels. This final submission marks the last step in assembling President Mahama's team, as he prepares to implement his governance agenda with a streamlined administration.
