GH¢548 million National Service Scandal: Eight Suspects Seek Plea Deals
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine

Accra, Ghana – 28 July, 2025 – The Attorney-General's office has confirmed that eight individuals, including three former officials of the National Service Authority (NSA), are seeking plea bargains in connection with the ongoing financial scandal at the National Service Authority (NSA). The development comes as the AG's office delays filing formal charges pending additional documentation from key government agencies.

Investigations have revealed financial irregularities linked to an account at the Bank of Ghana associated with former NSA Director-General, Mr. Osei Assibey. A staggering GH¢80 million remains unaccounted for, with two cheques bearing Mr. Assibey's name and account details allegedly used to withdraw close to GH¢2 million.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, said investigations showed that GH¢189 million was transferred into the account.

Dr. Dominic Ayine has reaffirmed his office's commitment to transparency and accountability in handling the case, assuring that no individual found culpable will be shielded from accountability.
