Mahama Nominates Ebi Bright as Tema MCE

Accra, Ghana - 23 April, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Ebi Bright, the 2024 National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central, as the new Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive.

Bright's nomination has sparked controversy, with some residents expressing dissatisfaction. 

Meanwhile, Ludwig Totimeh has been appointed as the Municipal Chief Executive for Tema West.

The nominations, announced by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, are part of a broader list of 29 nominees for various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive positions across the country.

These appointments are in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act of 2016.

The nominees must still gain approval from their respective assemblies before taking office. Ebi Bright's dual role as a parliamentary candidate and MCE nominee has raised eyebrows, sparking debate about the intersection of politics and local governance.
