Accra, Ghana - 23 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Parliament is set to undergo a significant leadership reshuffle, with Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, taking over as Majority Leader today, January 23.

This development follows the appointment of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister of Finance, creating a vacancy in the Majority leadership.

The reshuffle also includes significant changes to other key parliamentary roles. Governs Kwame Agbodza, previously the Majority Chief Whip, has transitioned to the executive as the Minister of Roads and Highways designate. Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, the MP for Cape Coast South, is set to assume the role of Deputy Majority Leader, succeeding Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

Additionally, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the MP for South Dayi, is tipped to take over as Majority Chief Whip. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the MP for Ada and current Second Deputy Whip, may be promoted to First Deputy Whip, although this has not been officially confirmed.
