Attorney General to Review ORAL Committee's Progress
Accra, Ghana - 23 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, is set to convene a crucial meeting with the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee next week.
The meeting aims to assess the committee's progress in investigating suspected corruption and recovering looted public assets.
The ORAL Committee has been inundated with over 700 petitions from the public acording to the committe chairman, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Dr. Ayine emphasized that the meeting will focus on evaluating the information gathered and planning the next steps in the recovery process.
As the government intensifies its anti-corruption efforts, the ORAL Committee plays a vital role in promoting accountability and transparency. Dr. Ayine's meeting with the committee is expected to be instrumental in advancing this agenda, ensuring that those responsible for looting public assets are held accountable.
The ORAL Committee's work is grounded in Ghana's 1992 Constitution, which emphasizes the importance of accountability and good governance. As Dr. Ayine noted, “The ORAL committee and I will be meeting somewhere early next week most likely on Monday and I will be briefed by them in respect of what they have gathered so far and of course I will take over the information that they have gathered.”
