Mahama Appoints Sammy Gyamfi as Acting Managing Director of PMMC

Accra, Ghana - 16 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has named Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), effective immediately.

Mr. Gyamfi's appointment is seen as a key step towards fulfilling the NDC's 2024 manifesto promise to establish the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). The GoldBod aims to promote sustainable management and marketing of Ghana's gold resources, with a focus on formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector and providing support services to the industry.

Accordin a statement signed by the Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, as Acting Managing Director of PMMC, Mr. Gyamfi will work closely with the Minister for Finance to drive economic revitalization and sustainable development in Ghana. His extensive background in law, economic policy, and mining is expected to be a significant asset in this role.

Mr. Gyamfi holds degrees from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the Ghana School of Law, and the University of Ghana. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, with executive certificates in emerging leadership and strategic leadership.
