Accra, Ghana - 16 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's newly appointed Minister-Designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has vowed to lead with humility and vision, saying his appointment is a collective opportunity to reshape the nation's youth narrative.

Mr. Opare Addo, a lawyer and local government official, was among the latest ministerial appointees announced by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday. He expressed gratitude to the President, pledging to implement a transformative policy framework for youth development.

"My vision is clear: to create decent jobs, empower millions, and lift young people out of poverty," Mr. Opare Addo stated in a atatement, emphasizing that his doors are open to everyone, regardless of their political affiliations.

“This is not just a personal milestone but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation’s youth. This story belongs to you, the young people of our nation, and we will write it together.

“I pledge to lead with humility, unrepentant ambition, unwavering resilience. and an undying vision for a brighter future.”

He pledged to implement an ambitious and transformative policy framework for youth development, emphasizing that his doors are open to everyone, regardless of their political affiliations.

“My vision is clear: to deploy and implement the most aggressive and transformative policy framework for youth development in the history of our beloved country. Together, we will create decent jobs, empower millions, and lift young people out of poverty. No matter your political persuasion. creed. or background, my doors are opened. No time for long bureaucracy.

“My Mind Dey for You! Let’s start that business, that Initiative, that dream-and make it a Ghanaian success story. That is what the Mahama Administration stands for: inclusive progress, bold action, and unparalleled ambition.”

As the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Opare Addo brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served twice as Municipal Chief Executive under former Presidents John Evans Atta-Mills and John Dramani Mahama.

With his appointment, Mr. Opare Addo has pledged to make youth development a top priority, saying "Today is Day 1, and we don't have the luxury of time."
