Let your men provide maximum security at all collation centres - NPP tells IGP
Ghana's electoral landscape is under intense scrutiny as the country navigates the aftermath of its recent parliamentary elections. Incidents of vandalism, allegedly perpetrated by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have raised concerns about the safety and security of the electoral process.
In response to these incidents, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged the Ghana Police Service to step up security measures at collation centres nationwide.
The NPP's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong during a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, December 11, appealed to the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action to prevent further incidents.
“We’re calling on the police, Mr IGP, the safety of this country is in your hands. Everybody is watching you, everybody is counting on you. Let your men provide maximum security at all collation centres.
“So that officers of the Electoral Commission can do their constitutional duty of making sure we have credible parliamentary candidates-elect in our next Parliament”, he stated.
