Election 2024: NDC will hold IGP responsible for any life lost - Sammy Gyamfi
Accra, Ghana - Nov 19, 2024 - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong warning to Ghana's security leadership, especially the Inspector General of Police, Goerge Akuffo Danpare stating that they will be held accountable for any violence or loss of life during the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC's National Communications Officer, emphasized the importance of protecting lives during the electoral process, stressing that "elections are about counting heads, not cutting heads".
Gyamfi's statement came during a press conference on November 19, 2024, where he urged the Dr. Akuffo-Dampare, and other security agencies to intensify measures to prevent casualties.
“The NDC and by extension, the people of Ghana will hold the IGP, the Chief of Defence Staff and our security heads responsible for the loss of a single life in the 2024 general elections.
“Elections are about counting heads and not cutting heads. No person must lose his or her life on the altar of elections.”
“We have no doubt that Ghanaians will choose an honest leader who upholds the virtue of truth over one who is completely allergic to truth,'' he stated.
