Kwabena Adu-Boahene's Bail Slashed by GHS40 Million Amid Ongoing Corruption Trial

Accra, Ghana - 28 March, 2025 - The Accra High Court has reduced the bail condition for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), from GHS120 million to GHS80 million.
Adu-Boahene's wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, will still face bail set at GHS80 million, with two sureties required to be justified.
The couple is facing charges of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions, following an investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Adu-Boahene is accused of diverting millions of Ghanaian cedis of state funds into personal accounts during his tenure as NSB Director-General from 2017 to February 2025.
As part of their bail conditions, both Adu-Boahene and his wife are required to report to the EOCO three times a week and have their travel restricted, requiring express permission from the EOCO for any trips.
The couple's legal representative, Samuel Atta Akyea, has expressed optimism that his client will meet the revised bail conditions successfully.
