Accra, Ghana - 10 Feb, 2025 - The University of Ghana held its matriculation ceremony over the weekend, marking the official welcome of newly admitted students to the 2024/2025 academic year.
The ceremony took place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Great Hall and Cedi Conference Centre, with events organized at the college level.
In a speech, read on her behalf, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, urged the new students to uphold the university's values and maintain its reputation. She emphasized the importance of discipline, excellence, and integrity in all aspects of their lives.
“As students, you are now ambassadors of the University of Ghana. Wherever you go, remember that your actions and inactions reflect the reputation of this esteemed institution. I urge you to uphold the image of the University and actively participate in its academic, social, and cultural life,” she stated.
The Vice-Chancellor also advised the students to familiarize themselves with the university's regulations and to take advantage of the diverse opportunities available, including mentorship, leadership training, and extracurricular engagements. She assured the students that the university is committed to providing a supportive environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.
The matriculation ceremony is a significant event in the university's calendar, marking the formal admission of new students to the university community. This year's ceremony was particularly notable, as it coincided with the university's efforts to implement its Five-Year Strategic Plan (2024-2029), which focuses on transformative student experiences, impactful research, and commitment to faculty and staff.
