Halt the Sale and Processing of All State Lands - Mahama orders Lands Commission

Accra, Ghana - 11 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, has issued a directive to suspend all transactions involving state and public lands, effective immediately.

This move aims to safeguard public lands for future generations and marks the beginning of the Mahama administration's commitment to reclaiming improperly acquired state assets.

The directive, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, instructs the Lands Commission to halt ongoing transactions and submit a detailed report on recent and pending transactions within 14 days.

'' This directive has been issued to protect and preserve State and Public Lands for the collective benefit of the citizenry and future generations. As such, all ongoing and pending transactions must be halted without delay to facilitate a comprehensive review of current framework governing the management of such lands,'' portions of the statement read.
