Mahama Sets up Eight-Member Committee to Plan National Education Forum

Accra, Ghana - 02 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has taken a significant step towards fulfilling his campaign pledge to the people of Ghana by appointing an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum.
In a statement signed by Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, the Committee will be chaired by Professor George K.T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
The committee has been tasked with submitting its report and plan within two weeks. The committee's terms of reference include developing a theme and sub-themes for stakeholder engagement, identifying key stakeholders, and proposing a venue and date for the forum.
Other members of the committee include Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D, and Professor Smile Dzisi, as well as Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.
The National Education Forum aims to bring together stakeholders in the education sector, including students, teachers, parents, and development partners, to discuss and find solutions to the challenges facing Ghana's education system.
The committee's report and plan will inform the development of a comprehensive national education policy framework and action plan, which will be drafted within three weeks after the forum.

1. Develop a theme and sub-themes to guide the stakeholder engagement
2. Identify key stakeholders in the education sector, including students, religious bodies, political parties, parents, teachers(pre-tertuary and Tertiary, including the private sector), development partners, civil societies, Ghanaian Educational Researchers in the diaspora, Chiefs, heads of Educationsl institutions, Parliamentary Select Committee on education etc to be invited as participants
3. Develop a stakeholders activity agenda with time allocations (thematic breakout sessions, plenaries etc
4. Propose a venue and date(s) for the forum
5. Set up a secretariat to document activities
6. Provide a budget for the National Education Forum
7. Develop a comprehensive report detailing the findings and recommendations of the Forum
8. Draft a national education policy framework and prpose an action plan for implementing recommendations within three weeks later the Forum
9. Consider any other issue relevant to the organisation of the Forum.
