Gov't Chooses 'Reflect, Review, and Reset' Theme for Low-Key Independence Anniversary

Jubilee House/Accra, Ghana - 23 Feb, 2025 - As the country prepares to mark a major milestone, Ghana's government has officially unveiled "Reflect, Review, and Reset" as the theme for its 68th Independence Anniversary, a celebration that will be marked with subdued festivities at Jubilee House due to economic challenges.
In a press briefing on February 22, Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained that the theme embodies the modesty of this year's celebrations, which will be held at Jubilee House.
“The theme for this year is reflect, review and reset, which theme fits into the general tone in the country at the moment. The way that the elections have gone and the consensus that there is among all shapes of opinion that our country needs a reset has actively reflected in the theme that has been chosen,'' he stated.
“It also reflects the modesty with which these celebrations are being carried out. The only thing that is constant in human life is change.
“The decision will solve the problem of people passing out due to the sun, and the small number also indicates that the ceremony will be shorter,” he added.
The Independence Day Planning Committee has given assurances that the essence of the celebration will be preserved, with iconic events like the flag-raising ceremony, presidential address, and parade still on the program.
Meanwhile, the shift to Jubilee House is anticipated to alleviate concerns of overcrowding and heat exhaustion that have marred past events.
