New York, September 21,2025 - President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama are set to make a significant presence at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York. The President ,currently in New York is leading Ghana's delegation to address world leaders on key global issues, while the First Lady participates in events focused on children's welfare and African development.

 

President Mahama's Key Engagements:

- Delivering Ghana's National Statement: On September 25, President Mahama will outline Ghana's stance on pressing international issues, marking a historic moment as the first Ghanaian President to address the UNGA after an eight-year interval.

- Hosting Side Events: As African Union Champion for Financial Institutions, President Mahama will host two major side events, one focused on Africa's financial sovereignty and another on reparatory justice for Africans and people of African descent.

- Bilateral Meetings: He will meet with world leaders, including the UN Secretary-General, and engage with institutions like the Rockefeller Foundation and the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce.

- Visit to NASDAQ: President Mahama will make a historic visit to NASDAQ, ringing the closing bell to symbolize Ghana's growing economic presence globally.
