Abronye Questions NIB's Integrity Amid Invitation to Answer Allegations Against Mahama

Accra, Ghana - 23 Feb, 2025 - Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) is biased in its duties.
This comes after the NIB invited him to appear on February 26, 2025, regarding allegations he made against President John Mahama.
Abronye DC claimed that President Mahama withheld GH₵550 million intended for dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House. He made these allegations on Accra-based Movement Television, where he also accused the government of corruption in recruitment and revocation processes.
In an interview with Channel One News on February 22, Abronye DC stated, “there was a money intended for those employees whose appointment letter have been terminated, and no government will recruit for that budgeting. So I’ll go and face them. I haven’t seen the criminal element of that. So they said I should come and assist them in investigation. So let’s go and then take it from there.
He questioned the NIB's selective investigation, citing instances where government appointees made "wild allegations" without being invited for questioning. Abronye DC vowed to prove the NIB's bias
“Then after that, we can read meaning to their invitation whether they are trying to reintroduce the culture of silence that everybody spoke against some time ago. I don’t see the criminal element of this issue for BNI to take or invite me to assist them when the current government appointees have made wild allegation, and the director of BNI hasn’t invited any of them.
''“Wild allegation, serious that Akyem mafia we are hoarding gold outside, the MIIF. There are monies that they have stolen. A lot of things. So the director of, national investigation did not invite any of them. So we will go and prove to them that they are doing selectivity in their work,'' he added.
This development comes after Abronye DC's previous encounters with the law, including his arrest in 2022 for allegedly claiming that former President John Mahama was planning a coup.
