Gov't Awards Phase II of Blekusu Sea Defence Project to Amandi Holdings Ltd

Accra, Ghana - 09 June, 2025 - The government has awarded the construction of Phase II of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project to Amandi Holdings Ltd, Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has announced.
According to a June 7 Facebook post by Minister Gunu, Amandi Holdings Ltd has started preparing for full-scale construction by mobilizing equipment and setting up a base at Azizadzi.
“I’m pleased to inform you that the Phase II of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project has officially been awarded to Amandi. The company is currently mobilising and setting up its operational base at Azizadzi,'' Mr. Gunu stated.
This development brings hope to residents of Agavedzi, Salakope, and surrounding coastal communities who have been heavily affected by tidal waves in recent years. The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council, with the support of Eximbank, has provided temporary shelters for residents to relocate to safer areas, paving the way for uninterrupted construction activities.
Minister Gunu revealed that the government is also working on a permanent resettlement project to house those displaced by the tidal waves. "In addition, we are also working on a housing project which will serve as a permanent resettlement solution for displaced victims," he added.
The Minister expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his commitment to coastal protection.
To ensure the well-being of affected residents, the government has assured provision of food supplies and access to medical care throughout the construction period. The construction of Phase II of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project is expected to provide a lasting solution and protect the livelihoods of residents in the affected communities.
The Blekusu Sea Defence Project aims to mitigate the impact of coastal erosion and tidal waves on local communities. The project's completion is expected to safeguard the lives and properties of residents, allowing them to rebuild and improve their livelihoods.
