Ghana Warns of Global Security Threat Amid Israel-Iran Hostilities, Calls for Restraint
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister

Accra, Ghana - 16 June, 2025 - The Ghanaian government has issued a strong statement expressing deep concern over the recent escalation of military hostilities between Israel and Iran.

Following Israel's military strikes on Iranian territory on June 13, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for both parties to exercise maximum restraint and prioritize dialogue.

In a press statement, the Ministry emphasized the need for Israel and Iran to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. Ghana has urged both nations to recommit to peaceful resolution efforts, respect each other's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and engage in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

“Ghana further calls upon the parties to reaffirm their commitment to the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law,” portions of the statement read.

The government has warned that continued escalation poses a significant threat to regional and global peace and security.

Ghana has reaffirmed its support for multilateral diplomacy and declared its readiness to back a unified response from the international community to curb the violence, prevent its spread, and contain further destabilization in the Middle East.
