Accra, Ghana - 02 June, 2025 - Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has died after a short illness at the Bank Hospital on Saturday, May 31.

According to party sources, Ade Coker passed away, leaving behind a legacy in Ghana's political and sports landscape. 

Ade Coker served as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 2009 to 2022. During his tenure, he became a familiar voice in Ghanaian politics, widely respected for his candid commentary on national and political matters.

He lost his re-election bid in 2022 to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the current regional chairman.

Beyond politics, Ade Coker made significant contributions to Ghanaian sports. He served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), where he played a crucial role in governing and developing football in the country. His dedication to sports earned him recognition and respect from the sports community.

Ade Coker's death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from NDC members, political figures, and sports administrators.
