MultiChoice Announces 15% DSTV Price Hike in Ghana

Accra, Ghana - 25 March, 2025 - A significant price increase is looming for Ghanaian subscribers of MultiChoice's DSTV service, effective April 1, 2025, sparking concerns over the company's pricing strategy.

The 15% average rise in subscription fees across all packages marks the third price adjustment in just over a year, leaving subscribers bracing for the impact.

Consumer advocacy group CUTS International has criticized the short notice period, urging DSTV to provide timely and transparent communication around price changes. The group argues that this would help build trust and foster good customer relationships.

“This short notice period may not have given subscribers adequate time to review their options or make necessary adjustments. Respect for consumers is fundamental in any market, particularly where services are paid for in advance and on a recurring basis.

“Providing timely and transparent communication around price changes is not only fair and reasonable but also helps to build trust and foster good customer relationships”, CUTS International said in a press release.

The move follows a similar failed attempt by MultiChoice to raise prices in Nigeria in 2024, which was met with resistance from consumers.

Now, DSTV Ghana subscribers are watching closely, considering whether to emulate their Nigerian counterparts in opposing the price hike.
